To provide you with our recommendations, we need to understand your task better:

Could you please to describe your usage scenario in more details?

Do you need to recognize the entire image or it is enough to extract only some fields with certain data?

What result do you expect to get? What export format are you going to use?

Are you going to parse or some how process the retrieved data later?

Would you mind sending your images to us (Cloudocrsdk@abbyy.com)?

We take an image by an Iphone and uploaded to the server. The Server has to extract fields of interest from the image and return it to the phone. The phone can now display the information in the phone for user verification and upload to the db server.

Image is not restricted to credit card may be any kind of bill, grocery bill, electricity bill, water bill, hotel bill, walmart bill etc.

The same system should work for PDF bills also.

For your scenario we usually recommend to use the processImage method with the textExtraction profile. This profile is suitable for extracting all text from the input image, including small text areas of low quality. Also it could be helpful to export text and its coordinates to XML and then extract the necessary information on your side using text coordinates.

The field-level recognition cannot be used for your scenario because we can recognize fields on a page only with the specified coordinates of each these fields. Thus field-level recognition can be used in case you process some static forms, not when the images are quite different each time.
